Charlie-Jade currently teaches singing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is the Associate Teacher of Singing at LAMDA. She teaches pre-professional students on BA and MA Musical Theatre Courses, BA and MFA Acting Courses and previously taught on Mountview’s BA Actor Musicianship Course, alongside running The Practice, her private studio for professional voice users. Using a collaborative and evidence-based approach to voice training, alongside her depth of knowledge in physiological and psychological systems, Charlie-Jade works with each individual to encourage vocal development and harness a clients unique sound, whilst ensuring that no matter the genre, students are singing healthily and efficiently.
Charlie-Jade is a PhD Candidate in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music where her research sits within the areas performing arts medicine, performance psychology and health literacy. She graduated with an MSc in Performance Science with Distinction from the Royal College of Music, and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Academy of Music and a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in singing teaching. She regularly engages in CPD with leading pedagogues, and works collaboratively with specialist physiotherapists, osteopaths and when required, additional members of a voice clinic team. She observes in NHS Voice Clinics with a leading ENT Consultant and is a member of the British Voice Association and Healthy Conservatoires Network.

Charlie-Jade continues her work as a singer-actor and understands the importance of combining emotional and musical instinct with a well-rounded technique. She works with her clients to ensure that they too learn to strike that balance. Her performance highlights includes, Gertie Phorylles in the European Premier of Marc Blitzstein’s No For An Answer (Arcola Theatre), the 10th Anniversary of Howard Goodall’s Love Story (Cadogan Hall), Iola Stover in the 5* immersive revival of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade (Frogmore Paper Mill), and session and concert vocals at Abbey Road Studios, and with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and London Musical Theatre Orchestra. Ultimately there is benefit to both. Online is often easier to fit into your day and most private students to have regular lessons online via zoom. The recommendation is to have an Ethernet cable to plug into your WiFi, or if this is not possible, ensure you are in close proximity to your wifi connection. There is an option to have lessons face and this can be discussed when booking. Locations are either in Central or West London.

Frequently is always best however this isn’t always possible for a variety of reasons. All I ask is that if you are a new student you have lessons weekly or bi-weekly for your first 5/6 lessons. This is so that we can get a solid foundation of working together and you are able to see development. After this point, every 3-4 weeks can be beneficial to maintain, especially if you are choosing a 45 minute or 1 hour lesson.

I am hugely experienced working with nervous and anxious singers. I have trained in Mindfulness and Meditation and use these techniques within lessons. In addition, I am an MSc Performance Science student at the Royal College of Music where I am specialising in research to help those with Music Performance Anxiety.
