SINGERS HEALTH
Acknowledging that vocal health is more often than not determined by our overall health and wellbeing, The Practice takes a proactive and health promoting step towards supporting singers and professional voice users overall health. Charlie-Jade’s MSc in Performance Science research investigated experiences and perceptions of health and wellbeing in conservatoire and drama school performing arts training, and her PhD studies at the Royal College of Music’s Centre of Performance Science (a partnership between the Royal College of Music and Imperial College London), focus on performing arts medicine, with a specialism in vocal and psychological health, and health literacy in drama schools. Her knowledge, and continued research in this area ensures that she is equipped to provide workshops and teach lectures around health and wellbeing, performers health, and performance psychology for professional organisations.
As in her singing teaching, and as supported by research, Charlie-Jade takes a collaborative and person centered approach to singers health, working with leading clinical practitioners including ENT laryngologists, physiotherapists, psychologists, nutritionists, osteopaths, speech and language therapists, and most importantly, you.
AT THE PRACTICE
“My session with Charlie-Jade helped me completely reevaluate how I approach my training and my relationship with myself as a performer. As somebody who has read countless books to help with this, I was shocked at how much I learned about myself in just one session. This has given me tools to move forward in my journey not only as a performer, but also as a person in everyday life who has perfectionistic tendencies.”
