ABOUT THE PRACTICE

The Practice by Charlie-Jade is an evidence-based space for professional voice users. Bringing together the worlds of science, education and performance, The Practice is designed to help you to develop  your vocal technique, and equip you with performing arts health education based on the latest research findings. Founded by singer, singing teacher and researcher Charlie-Jade Jones, The Practice ensures that high-quality evidence-based training is accessible to voice users at all stages of their careers.

ABOUT CHARLIE-JADE

Charlie-Jade currently teaches singing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is the Associate Teacher of Singing at LAMDA. She has taught pre-professional students on BA and MA Musical Theatre Courses, BA and MFA Acting Courses and BA Actor Musician Courses, and her professional clients also bridge these genres. Using a collaborative and evidence-based approach to voice training, alongside her depth of knowledge in physiological and psychological systems, Charlie-Jade works with each individual to encourage vocal development and harness a clients unique sound, whilst ensuring that no matter the genre, students are singing healthily and efficiently.

Charlie-Jade is a PhD Candidate in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music where her research sits within the areas performing arts medicine, performance psychology and health education. She graduated with an MSc in Performance Science with Distinction from the Royal College of Music and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Academy of Music and a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in singing teaching. She regularly engages in CPD with leading pedagogues, and works collaboratively with specialist physiotherapists, osteopaths and when required, additional members of a voice clinic team. She is working towards the Essentials in Performing Arts Medicine Certificate (Voice Educator Specialism), accredited by the Performing Arts Medicine Association, observes in NHS Voice Clinics and is a member of the British Voice Association and Healthy Conservatoires Network.

An active singer in her own right, Charlie-Jade’s recent work includes the 80th Anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the European Premier of Marc Blitzstein’s No For An Answer at The Arcola Theatre, the 10th Anniversary of Howard Goodall’s Love Story at Cadogan Hall, as well as work as a concert singer and session vocalist with companies including Opera Holland Park, Abbey Road Studios and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
